 Production Cost Analysis: STRIPED TOTE BAG

For my final product I decided to make a tote bag. The tote bag is composed of a sturdy canvas fabric. As for the design I kept it very simple with a minimalist striped pattern, for the stripes I used fabric paint and hand did the stripes. The production cost came up to 27.00 which included a hourly wage of 9.00 for 2 hours of work I took to make the bag and the cost of supplies. With a 20% profit of 5.40 everything came up to 32.40, So I made the retail price 40.00.

In the first version of the Celidah Choker Necklace for the production I did not buy the products in bulk or use imitation supplies. The Final cost including labor came up to 27.00, To cut costs in the Second production I bought the supplies in bulk. Which saved me way more and I kept labor wages the same. I kept my retail price the same, and I have learned that to save money for production the best thing to do is research other sellers and to buy supplies in bulk.

ST. JOHN

  The retailer I chose to do this assignment was a store I never been to before, Which was called St. John. I learned that St. John is a well known American luxury house that is influenced by knitwear and the style of a contemporary woman.

The Layout of the store was very chic and minimal and the floors were lined with a thick plush carpet. When walking in the front of the store there was a mannequin display of the current collection with a modern chandelier above the grouping. The display set the mood of the store, It was very sophisticated and tasteful. The pieces of current collections were located to the sides of the store on racks with a styling example near each rack.

For Social Media I currently have two sites that I keep up with which are Youtube and Instagram. My Audience Varies from personal connections, Creative Youth, and usually people that are curious about a certain product that I have reviewed. Through my analytics page on Youtube I've learned that my viewers are primarily from the United States but also from the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and India. The most viewing gender of my channel are Women at 72% and Men are the remaining 28%. As for the Traffic of my channel I am at 14,168 total views, With a subscriber count of 60. I make sure my Audience knows when I upload videos by sticking to a schedule of two nights per week on Thursdays and Sundays. On Instagram I have a following of 397 , which is composed of family, friends, subscribers, and creative youth. Ive have noticed Recently I gained followers from my Youtube Channel that wish to have a more personal view of me.

                            PRODUCTION STANDARDS

I went to the retailer American Apparel in Search of something to wear for a friend's birthday party.   I looked around at the blouses available, and found a wrap style top that looked very flattering so I picked up a size Small, In Blouses I generally fit to a small. I then asked to try on the garment in the dressing room and to my surprise the small size, was very tight on me as if it was to be labeled extra small. So I came out the dressing room and asked for a medium size.
I wanted to try the medium because, The problem with the small size was the tightness of the sleeves.
Although, The neckline style was a deep cut surplice top and my breasts were secured in the small. As for the Medium Size the arms were much better but now,  But breast area appeared baggy, and since it was a wrap style shirt it could be adjusted to my fitting so I decided to purchase the medium but not very satisfied. I left the store feeling and wishing they had one more of some kind of in Between Size.

Below are Images of the blouse I purchased and a American Apparel size chart, While reading the ranges I noticed they differ quite largely and the Medium really was not my correct size for chest measurements a 36 inch, or for my 26 inch waist because the medium ranges from a 38-40 chest and a 33-34 waist.
